What to watch in League this week: SKT and SSG rematch, TSM come home victorious

Following a brief break as a result of Rift Rivals, the Summer Split returns as Week 6 gets underway. Let’s see what what the Rift Rivals teams have learned, and what everyone else has been practicing, shall we?

Team SoloMid vs. Phoenix1

  • When: Saturday, July 15, 3 p.m. ET
  • Why: Both teams are looking hot after Rift Rivals

TSM are riding high heading into Week 6 following their sweep over the Unicorns of Love in the finals of Rift Rivals' NA vs. EU tournament. Coupled with a 7-3 record, TSM are poised to make a move for the top of the NA LCS.

But Phoenix1 have also shown signs of improvement. Their new jungler — Michael "MikeYeung" Yeung — excelled throughout the group stage, earning him the Group Stage MVP. And though Phoenix1 is currently tied for eighth place in the NA LCS, there's still plenty of time left in the split to recover and continue to move upwards.

Counter Logic Gaming vs. Team Dignitas

  • When: Saturday, July 15, 3 p.m. ET
  • Why: CLG fight to stay atop the NA LCS

Counter Logic Gaming sit one game ahead of Immortals and TSM at the top of the NA LCS, and are hoping to stay there by the time Week 6 ends. Though they did not attend Rift Rivals, that only means that they've had more time to prepare for this week's matches.

Dignitas, meanwhile, have been holding steady in the middle of the pack for the past few weeks following a strong 2-0 start to the split. And if they can take down CLG in this match, there's not much else that can stand in Dignitas' way as they join the best teams in NA at the top.

Unicorns of Love vs. Misfits

  • When: Friday, July 14, 2 p.m. ET
  • Why: UoL look shaky after Rift Rivals

The Unicorns of Love's run through the EU LCS continues as they prepare to face Misfits, the second place team in Group A. While UoL hold a slight lead in Group B, they return to the EU LCS following their shutout loss to TSM at Rift Rivals, and need to once again prove that they are one of the best teams in Europe.

For Misfits, this is a good opportunity to attempt to advance on Fnatic's lead in Group A. With UoL coming back to the EU with their tail between their legs, Misfits have a golden opportunity to take down a dangerous opponent at their weakest moment.

SK Telecom T1 vs. Samsung Galaxy

  • When: Thursday, July 13, 7 a.m. ET
  • Why: Because it’s SKT vs. SSG

Welcome to the premier match of Week 6 of the Summer Split. It's the two top teams in the LCK going head-to-head for the second time this split, and this will help to determine who will be the first seed in the upcoming playoffs.

In their last match in Week 1, it was SSG who emerged victorious with a 2-0 sweep of SKT, which is the latter’s only loss so far this split. SKT will be hungry for revenge, and SSG will need to be on their guard for the rematch.
