Obama on Anthony Bourdain: ‘He taught us about meals’ and ‘its potential to carry us collectively’

Bourdain was discovered unresponsive in a lodge room in France on Friday morning. CNN confirmed that the reason for loss of life was suicide. Bourdain, who was 61 years previous, was in France for work on an upcoming episode of his CNN sequence, “Elements Unknown.”

In a memorable episode of the present that aired in 2016, Obama sat down to eat with Bourdain at a restaurant in Hanoi, Vietnam.

On Friday, Obama shared a photograph on Twitter of the meal they shared, saying that it’s how he’ll keep in mind the storyteller, author and chef.

“Low plastic stool, low cost however scrumptious noodles, chilly Hanoi beer.” That is how I am going to keep in mind Tony,” the previous president tweeted.

Obama went on to say of Bourdain, “He taught us about meals — however extra importantly, about its potential to carry us collectively. To make us rather less afraid of the unknown. We’ll miss him.”

Bourdain wrote about the experience for CNN, saying that he discovered Obama to be “very relaxed and comfortable,” throughout their time collectively.

“What can I let you know about what it is like to sit down throughout from the President of the USA and drink beer from the bottle?,” he wrote.

“I can let you know that Barack Obama was, despite having had a high-ranking chief of the Taliban whacked in Pakistan a couple of days earlier, very relaxed and comfortable. He appeared to take pleasure in himself sitting on a low plastic stool consuming noodles and pork bits with chopsticks.”
