Collection of explosions reported at Syrian army airport


The personal, pro-regime information outlet al-Mayadeen initially reported that Israeli airstrikes hit the airbase close to Damascus with a number of missiles. Nonetheless, Syrian state media later cited an unnamed army supply denying the bottom was hit by Israel.

The Syrian Arab Information Company (SANA) and Syria state tv reported a “army supply denies the publicity of the Mazzeh Airport to any Israeli aggression and the sounds of explosions that have been heard resulted from explosion of an ammunition depot close to the airport due to electrical failure.”

About 4 explosions have been heard coming from the route of the army airport Saturday, a Damascus resident advised CNN.

“I assume it was from an airstrike due to the explosions afterwards and ambulances with firefighters that went to the scene,” the resident stated.

Some clips of the explosions and the aftermath — seemingly filmed by telephones at a distance — emerged on numerous boards together with Fb and WhatsApp. Video confirmed shiny flashes of sunshine within the evening sky in some sort of explosion, however did not reveal exactly what induced the blasts.
