Three people were killed in a shooting inside a Michigan courtroom Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Two of the dead were bailiffs and the third was the suspected shooter, Berrien County Undersheriff Chuck Heit told BuzzFeed News. A deputy was also wounded in the attack and was at a nearby hospital in local condition.
“The suspect was a defendant,” Heit said.
The attack occurred at about 2:30 p.m. inside a third-floor courtroom of the Berrien County Courthouse. It was unclear if the shooting took place during a hearing, Heit said.
Civilians were also injured in the attack, Heit said, but no additional information on the extent of their injuries or condition was available. They were all taken to a nearby hospital.
